  • 1970's translucent shaded amber optyl
    frame by CHRISTIAN DIOR, model

  • Can be glazed with Rx or sunglasses lenses.

other info
  • Made using the new 'plastic', Optyl, in the late 70's. Optyl

was developed by Carrera and their list of clients included

Dunhill and later, Paloma Picasso. Dior still make their

frames from this very light, versatile polymer but when

this was made nearly 40 years ago, they has a factory

in North America. Afterwards all Optyl products were

made in either Germany or Austria, at the Carrera plant.

This model, Dior's 648, was extremely popular as we have

found it in different sizes and colourways, this the amber/

brown/honeyed tones in the larger 54mm size.

NB: Optyl needs extra care when glazing and we would

recommend us glazing it for you as we guarantee the

frame during the glazing process if we use our optical lab.
