  in this Nylon Supra style, more popular over
  
  here in Europe than in the US where the comb-
  
  ination (metal/plastic) frame was preferred.
  
  Recently with the popularity of rimless frames
  
  , perhaps even our American friends will be won
  
  over by Supra which looks and feels whisper light.
  
  Michael Birch is now a renowned Netsuke carver
  
  and his frames are collected too. This one shows
  
  all his skill in its deft use of colour and shaping:
  
  winged sides curved round the sinuous arms, the
  
  triple laminate going from deep chocolate to white
