info
The story behind this famous sunglass design
has been told in interview by Lamar Fike, Elvis'
long-term friend and employee. He found the
silver metal version of these in a gas station in
the US in 1970 and Elvis tried them on and liked
them. He wore them for a while and after that,
he had them made in different materials and
colours and the gaudy adornments, ie the TCB
and EP logos, were added, the bridge having to
be enlarged to accommodate the latter. He never
had the black Polaroids duplicated - rather he
always wore this version or a similar one Made
in France and a friend of klasik.org has kindly
provided this
photo of the King in the original 's.
We had this pair fitted with new Polaroid lenses
in the high neutral (38%LTF) lenses which apparently
is a tint preferred by Elvis. Long Live the King!
The condition of the frame marked down to 'good'
due to there being a small split in the plastic arm
end near where it is stamped 8004 - seems stable.
NB: this month we are also offering
the chrome version.
