Hobart "Hobie" Alter designed his first surfboard
on the west coast of America in 1950 and that
was the start of
HOBIE, whose web site tells
us that they added sunglasses to their repertoire
in 1982. This pair one of their early ones while
they were manufacturing in France using polarized
glass lenses - these blocking 99% uv at 400, still
no better lenses on the market. You could easily
mistake these for a Ray-Ban that came out a
few years later as they look to be made by the
same French manufacturer. Classic and rare.
