The Dash is one the earliest of the plastic
framed Ray-Bans we find as we know from
literature that it was launched in 1952 and
in its honour, it was sold alongside a matching
hat designed by famous French/US milliner,
Lilly Daché - (better known perhaps for her
fruity Carmen Miranda turbans). The Wayfarer
was launched the following year which is
probably why they both share the same
lozenge shields. Here is an
ad for them both
in 1953. The colour of this pair is a sort of
bronze. NB: there are some tiny stress lines
at the bridge (bottom photo) which are stable
and are not a problem. Due to age.
