Art-Craft have been going since 1918, still based
in the state of New York. This pair is not too difficult
to date as it was a popular shape for men and
women just after the war. Here is an
ad for Shuron
sunglasses from 1947 and there is a sporty pair
shown which is almost identical - the same rimless
style. Rimway on our pair refers to the method of
attaching the lenses to the top bar - behind the top
of each lens is a rim into which each screw attaches.
Ful-Vue refers to where the temples attach to the
frame, raised to the top part of the lens.
Here is a
catalogue page from 1947 offering similar rimless
styles. Ours has a beautifully engraved bridge and
temples with pearly top bar and matching pads and
temple tips. The lenses are excellent: 99% uv
protective at 400nm. The size would indicate that
it is for women. NB: frame marked down only due
to some slight stress lines in bridge - see photo.
