Holiday was Art-Craft's range of sunglasses
which were extremely high quality - competing
with B&L and AO, the top manufacturers at
the time. The link above shows the cover of
one of their catalogues the year before this
pair was made. Art-Craft had already developed
a method of burying the hinges into the arm so
that no shields were visible and you can see from
our pair that they went on to hide the shields on
the front as well - a world first as far as we know.
In the catalogue Art-Craft go on to describe their
Melo-Ray tempered lenses as, "...impact resistant,
distortion free...a neutral gray lens with excellent
infrared and ultraviolet absorption....visible light
transmission is approximately 19%...". This pair
has a striped silver layer under a honey amber layer,
blending beautifully with the contours of the frame.
