Safilo (since 1934) are now one of the
biggest eyeware companies in the world
- making, amongst others, Carrera, Dior,
Gucci, Armani, YSL, Pierre Cardin, the list
goes on - as well as their own brand, like
this pair made around the late 1970's. It
is a beautiful organic design and although
large, looks light on due to the translucent
colours and mid-tone lenses. Rare to find
in unworn condition. Lenses marked down
from perfect due to some very slight storage
marks. Safilo have a prestigious optical
museum attached to their HQ in Italy - we
reckon this would be an ideal acquisition
for them, so you better get in quick!
NB - don't know why they are called SABA,
unless they are named after the Caribbean
Island of same name.
