1940s/50s dark red plastic frame, unmarked
Can be glazed with
Beautiful, luxury hand-made frame from either just post-war
or early 1950's. Without any markings it is difficult to be
accurate but it looks to be made in England around this period.
The acetate is thick and expensive and would have been cut
from a quality sheet - these plastics were also labour-intensive
artisan products. The colour is a deep, dark blood red. The
hinges are simple but fine quality, exposed at the sides so
they meet metal to metal and the pin heads smoothed off.
The strengthened arms taper down to slightly flare at hand-
incised tips. No doubt a bespoke frame, best suited to a small
to medium sized man.
