info
The combination of rarity and style makes the
Caribbean, along with the Balorama, the most
collectible of the 60's Ray-Bans in plastic. In their
1964
catalogue (shown with the pale G31 lens)
they were described as a, "...crisp, clean-lined
design with large lens area for maximum eye
comfort under the sun...". This is the 52mm size,
the large size for men, but by 1966 Ray-Ban decided
that women could wear it too -
check them out in
the 1966 catalogue. The colour is Charwood Grey
- also introduced the same year - which may be
the colour on the male model. It is a wood-effect
plastic that attempts to create a real wood texture
and feel, very popular in the 1960s. The frame is in
great condition however the original G15 grey/green
lenses had a scratch in the centre of one of the lenses
sdo we had them replaced with
Klasik G15.
