info
Ted Lapidus did a brief apprenticeship with
Christian Dior in the 1950s before opening
his own boutique in Paris. His house is still
going, having been taken over by his son,
Olivier, but before he retired he made this
style of sunglasses, with its tubular bamboo-
like design with gold metal accents, his own.
This pair has the gold metal inners that hold
the lenses and can be slipped out to change
the lenses.
We have it in an ad from 1988 and
it was incredibly popular, being made into the
90s. Our pair a pearly peacock hue with gradient
grey lenses in excellent condition.
